RICHARD TARNAS is a professor of Western intellectual and cultural
history and depth psychology. He teaches at the California Institute of
Integral Studies in San Francisco, and Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa
Barbara, California. A graduate of Harvard (B.A. cum laude) and the
Saybrook Institute (Ph.D.), he lived and worked at Esalen Institute, still
North America’s pre- eminent growth centre, where he served as director of
programs and education. He collaborated extensively with Stan Grof, M.D.
(developer of Holotropic reathwork).
